Socket Weld Pipe Flanges Tube Line Pipe Fitting Flange Carbon Steel Socket
Socket weld flange is similar to a drop-in flange, except that it has hole and counterbore dimensions. The counterbore is slightly larger than the outside diameter of the matching tube, allowing the tube to be inserted into the flange, similar to a slip flange. The diameter of the orifice is the same as the inner diameter of the matching tube. A limit is built into the bottom of the hole, which is set as the shoulder of the pipe support. This eliminates any flow restriction when using socket weld flanges.
The only difference is that the plate diameter of the socket weld flange is slightly larger than the outside diameter of the pipe to be installed
